General DescriptionThe Image 416 and larger Image 418 are two high performance models that boast some common features. Both share the famous Morel MDT33 tweeters and although the midrange drivers differ in cone size both utilise the 75mm voice coils for ultra-high power handling. While the midrange and HF drivers are conventionally mounted on the slim profile baffle to maximise dispersion, the side firing subwoofers placed on the larger sidewalls offer a more predictable bass loading regardless of room type. The result is a full-bodied bass with dynamics and authority. On a more technical side, there are two internal chambers that separate the midrange and bass sections. Their irregular shape and the wool blend absorption material combine to minimise any possible standing waves that could affect midrange clarity and transient response. These partitions and the extensive use of internal bracing within the bass section to maintain structural rigidity are typical of what you expect and get from Image. The Image 416 employs a 21cm low bass driver, which makes this model the better choice for medium size rooms. The Image 418 employs a 26cm low bass driver to move more air, and has better integration when used in larger rooms. Both models excel in audio and home theatre systems, with or without Image subwoofers. With a quality signal source and high power amplification, the Image 416 and 418 will exceed your expectations. |
